New Employee Orientation

All Alabama employees will attend Orientation at the Birmingham facility, 2000 Ninth Avenue South at 8:00 am on their first day of employment. New employees will park in designated visitors' spaces in either of the two "Visitors' Parking Lots" located on 9th Avenue South between 20th and 21st Streets South. Enter the courtyard and follow the Receptionist signs directing you to the Martin Building lobby entrance to your left. The Security Guard will sign you in and direct you to the Human Resources office for Orientation.

The suggested attire is business casual. Due to allergic sensitivity of some of our orientation participants, we ask that you be conservative in your use of perfumes.

Employment Paperwork

For all new hires, Southern Research is required by federal immigration law to verify both your identity and your eligibility to work in the US. The link to the Form I-9 includes instructions and a list of acceptable documents that can be used to verify your status in these areas. When you come to Orientation on your first day of employment, you must bring your original documents. Photocopies DO NOT meet the requirements. The I-9 form must be witnessed by a member of our staff; therefore, please do not complete in advance.

Employee EEO Self-Identification Forms

As a federal government contractor, we are required to gather, maintain, and report on certain staff demographics. We therefore invite each employee to complete the following forms. You are not required to disclose the information requested if you choose not to do so, so each form provides an area for you to decline. We do request that you complete the form for our records, even if you choose not to disclose. There are no negative consequences for not disclosing.

Policy Aknowledgment Form

The Southern Research policies listed here require your signed acknowledgement. Once you have read and understood the policies, print and sign the Acknowledgement Form and bring it with you to your scheduled on-site Orientation.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mary Jo Funderburg at 205-581-2273.
