Lucile White, Director of the Southern Research High-Throughput Screening (HTS) Center since 2004, oversees the screening of large compound libraries against enzyme, protein, and cell-based assays for both government and commercial clients. The state-of-the-art HTS Center is a suite of laboratories designed for efficient screening of large compound libraries while maintaining the capacity for a wide variety of assay types. Ms. White leads a staff with in-depth experience and demonstrated proficiency in transferring bench-top assays to the robotics platform and executing cell-based and biochemical screens.
In 2005, Southern Research established the Southern Research Molecular Libraries Screening Center (SRMLSC) when it was designated one of nine nongovernment screening centers in the NIH Molecular Libraries Screening Network, a part of the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research. The Southern Research HTS Center is at the core of the SRMLSC and has performed successfully under Ms. White's leadership.
Since 1995, Ms. White has held leadership positions in the Southern Research Enzymology Laboratory, and she currently serves as Manager. Ms. White is an expert in the development of methods for the purification, characterization, and assay of enzymes. She has more the 40 years of experience working with enzymes representative of the six primary enzyme classes and is familiar with most methods used in the following enzyme reactions: spectrophotometric, fluorescence, continuous titration with pH-stat, and radioactive tracers.
