Learn about career opportunities with Southern Research »
Southern Research has received the A/California/4/2009 isolate of the influenza A (H1N1) virus ("swine flu") from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and is currently amplifying the virus for characterization, qualification, and use in its antiviral and vaccine testing programs. Our scientists will soon be able to test the efficacy of antiviral compounds in preventing the cytopathic effect (CPE) induced by this emerging virus. Additionally, we will be able to determine the efficacy of vaccines and antiviral products in vivo and in vitro. As new H1N1 vaccines enter clinical trials later this year, Southern Research will be ready to support those studies in our GLP serology laboratories.
