FOCUS & RECENT ADVANCEMENTS

Global food production must double by 2050 to meet growing population needs. Our current methods of producing food products are far too inefficient and resource-intensive to possibly meet these future food demands. Solutions must be found, and quickly. Southern Research is working to create process models to optimize efficiency and improve economics of food production. We are actively engaged with our partners in search of innovative, long-term solutions to lead food production into the future, such as improving protein production, maximizing agricultural yields, decontaminating and managing industrial waste steams, reducing water and energy consumption, and speeding land renewal.

CAPABILITIES AND EXPERTISE

Our Energy and Environment team has extensive field experience and tremendous expertise in materials science and chemical engineering. We have developed air and water emissions control technologies, evaluated numerous energy conversion and water treatment technologies, and assessed and managed carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. We work with clients to provide natural resource management and agronomics, regulatory compliance, research and feasibility assessment tools, and project development.
